VORTEX xStd and xPro connection licenses include core VORTEX functions such as multi-site remote management, real-time alarms, and AI-powered search. Some projects, however, require longer video retention, onsite audio warnings, or detection designed for specific safety risks. These requirements can be addressed with VORTEX add-on services.
This article provides a quick overview of the three main add-on categories. Follow the links in each section for detailed functions, use cases, and deployment information.
Note:
- Add-on services on specified camera device require an xStd or xPro connection license plan. They are not available with device with xLite connection license.
- VORTEX cameras include 30 days of local storage. xStd and xPro connection licenses also provide 5GB and 30GB of Cloud Archive storage per camera, respectively. Before deploying an add-on service license, check whether the functions included in your current plan already meet the project requirements.
1. Cloud Storage
The add-on service Cloud Storage continuously records video from VORTEX cameras to the cloud. If a camera is damaged, stolen, or affected by an onsite incident, authorized users can still retrieve the cloud recording remotely.
Retention periods of 30, 60, 90, 120, 180, or 365 days are available. This service is useful for multi-site operations and industries with video retention or business continuity requirements.
This service currently supports VORTEX cameras only. It is not available for cameras connected through a VORTEX Connect NVR.

2. Network Speaker Integration
Network Speaker Integration connects supported VIVOTEK network speakers to VORTEX. When an alarm is triggered, the system can automatically play a prerecorded message. Operators can also use the Talk-down function to make live announcements.
Common applications include back entrances, loading areas, parking lots, and other locations without full-time onsite staff. The speaker allows the system to respond at the scene instead of only recording or reporting the event.

3. Advanced AI
Advanced AI provides purpose-built detection functions beyond the standard real-time alarms on supported VORTEX cameras:
- Think Alert: Describe a situation in text, such as “a person holding a crowbar,” and use it as a real-time detection rule.
- Fall Detection: Detect possible fall incidents and notify operators so they can verify and respond sooner.
- PPE Detection: Detect people who are not wearing required helmets or safety vests within a specified area.
Feature support varies by camera model. Check the applicable models and license requirements before deployment.

How to Get an Add-on License
Add-on licenses cannot be activated directly from the VORTEX platform. Contact your local system integrator or authorized VIVOTEK partner for help confirming the appropriate plan, supported devices, and subscription term.
